Unmanned Air Systems Asia conference

Unmanned Air Systems Asia - Event Rationale:

It was back in the Vietnam War when remotely-piloted vehicles (RPV) were deployed on the battle ground. Nearly three decades thence, development in the technology of unmanned systems has not only given a new meaning to unconventional warfare but also added layers of opportunities for the ever growing international defence market. Already a ‘must’ item in the defence inventory list of most nations, Unmanned Systems have created as many challenges as it has widened the scope of military and civil operations.

In June 2010, Defence IQ Singapore hosted the Unmanned Air Systems Asia conference. With over 80 participants, the event focused on providing Asian Defense Forces with the emerging technologies in the advancement of Unmanned Air Systems: Improving force effectiveness, reliability and operational efficiency.
The Unmanned Air Systems Asia 2010 conference brought for its delegates key insights and unmatched case-studies directly from the regional and International expert. Not only did this forum enable the exchange of intellectual discourse in the field of unmanned systems, it also made solutions come alive through discussions of ongoing research and developments of best performing unmanned systems power in Asia.

Issues Discussed at Unmanned Air Systems Asia 2010 Included:

  • Unmanned Systems: Challenges and Developments
  • Using UAS in Counter Insurgency Operations: Experience from Sri Lanka
  • Using Unmanned Systems Technology to enhance ISR: operational experience from the US Army
  • Improving C2 Technology within Unmanned Systems
  • UAV for Disaster Monitoring: Case study from JAXA
  • Application of Compact Sensors: Integrating them in Unmanned Air Systems
  • Asia centric case studies, lessons learned from advanced performers in the region

Selected Feedback from 2010 Unmanned Air Systems Asia Delegates:

Awesome! The content was short and sharp. The conference captured sufficient amount of topics from various backgrounds and experiences.
Mohd Julian Hadi Bin Husaini, Manager (Special Project Division), System Consultancy Services SDN. BHD.
Extremely valuable indeed! Brings one up-to the threshold of not only the technology levels, but also the thought process in the Region.
Col. (Retd.) Bharat Sharma, Former Director of Training, Indian Army
Very informative and stimulating conference
Cpt. Tay Aik Keong, Asst. Operations Officer (Planning), Republic of Singapore Police Force

Announcing the Dates for Unmanned Systems Asia 2011!

We did it once in 2009-successfully. We did a follow-up of our initiative and its success a second time in 2010. However, with an overwhelming interest in establishing and assessing the need for unmanned defence systems in Asia, Defence IQ is geared to triplicate its unmatched endeavor with the launch of Unmanned Systems Asia on 23-24 June 2011. Air, water or surface; just as Unmanned Systems have benefitted every aspect of unconventional warfare, so would the Unmanned Systems Asia Conference 2011. Here is a look at the range of topics to be covered:
  • A concise but comprehensive study of current and in-line unmanned air, surface and underwater systems
  • Strategic and airspace management case studies in integration of manned and unmanned technology
  • Technology development in multi-purpose UAV systems
  • Operational perspectives from regional and international operators
  • Application and usage of Unmanned Systems in different type of scenarios: case studies
